Genesis Law was established by our principal, George Wanes.

​

Before establishing Genesis Law, George Wanes was part of the Property & Real Estate team at HWL Ebsworth Lawyers. 

 

Prior to joining HWL, George commenced his legal career at a CBD boutique commercial firm BSP Lawyers.

​

George's strengths lay in his strong technical knowledge and expertise in Property and Commercial law, often allowing him to handle the transaction in its entirety and identify key risks for clients on the transaction whilst also being able to delivery quality commercial solutions.

​

In his previous roles at HWL Ebsworth Lawyers and BSP Lawyers, George represented and gained the trust of many large well-known blue chip and non-blue chip clients, government bodies, developers, financial institutions, investment fund management groups and high-net wealth investors on various complex large-scale transactions, including:

• advising and reporting to the Essential Services Commission on the Port of Melbourne market rent inquiry 2020 leading to the publication by the ESC of the Port of Melbourne market rent enquiry report (publicly available here)

• advising Goldman Sachs (Asia) on large private fund lending

• advising Credit Suisse $150million sale of CBD building

• advising Stockland on industrial leasing transactions and developments

• advising Peet Limited, Dahua, Goldfields on various development projects
